This article attempts to analyze Shostakovich’s 9th Symphony from a conductor’s point of view. It contains essential data that is needed by the young conductor, prior to realizing the score. Style, dramaturgy and form peculiarities are presented, also key points, deserving director’s special attention. And so, the year is 1945. The war is over. The long awaited V-Day has come. Everybody is expecting Shostakovich’s new symphony.
